    How long does the battery last doing this. Seems like a waste of money using an non rechargeable battery.

      I don't do a lot of electrolysis. A single battery has lasted quite a few session, 6 or more. I guess if you're looking at doing a lot, maybe a 12v power adapter would be the way to go. Cheers

    • @tubedinoz
      @tubedinoz 7 дней назад

      It's one like this. It's ideal for my small 10L batches. I don't exceed 8L when I'm doing the boil, which is the maximum recommended. So I add additional cold water to drop the temp for the 80C hopstand and also to make sure I get my 10L going into the fermenter. Just need to add a grain bag and you're good to go. Cheers www.amazon.com.au/Kambrook-KUR10-8-Litre-Urn/dp/B075RYLLF2/ref=asc_df_B075RYLLF2/?tag=nzgoshpadsp-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=675431056498&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16356768028180650361&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1011036&hvtargid=pla-675847973417&psc=1&language=en_AU&mcid=138827d0a47934498746bff659b5ece7&gad_source=1

    Says in your notes "Fermented at 15 C. Raise the temperature just before final gravity is reached to 21C and hold there for 3-4 days" is that for the diacetyl rest or is that something you do with the nova lager yeast, Just got a pkt but not used it yet mate. Cheers

    • @tubedinoz
      @tubedinoz 8 дней назад

      Thanks mate. Yeah I always raise the temp up to 21C and hold for a few days for a diaceytl rest and to clean things up. This works well with this yeast. It's pretty forgiving temperature wise, so you don't need to ferment quite as low as you would a regular lager yeast, having said that there's no reason you couldn't start lower. I just find 15C works well for me. Cheers

      Thanks mate. I've never used Green Bullet hops, but this beer has me thinking about using them. Cheers 🍻

    Thanks for the review. Will keep an eye out for this one when it becomes available to us homebrewers. I've tried all the previous NZ trial hops, all of which certainly have their own character and a place for sure, but I must admit... the classic premium NZ hops (Nelson, Riwaka etc) still stand out amongst the crowd, and even among these relative new comers, for me anyway.... so far. But, I'm always keen to try out new contenders! This one, based on your description actually sounds like it might serve better as a local alternative to traditional UK offerings like Fuggles, EKG etc... hence, rather than hopping a pilsner, it might actualy be a good addittion to an English bitter/IPA or golden ale? - all of which I brew from time to time. Thoughts? Cheers!

      Thanks Ian. It's definitely got nice noble hop qualities with that subtle citrus edge I mentioned. Could see it working in a number of styles, including the ones you mentioned. I could see a golden ale being a good choice to go with. Something with a lightish malt body to help the hops shine through. Cheers 🍻

    Great info, mate. It sounds perfect for a more traditional Pilsner, so yes, different from the NZ Pilsners that we’ve seen over the past few years. Looks like a great beer. Cheers!

      Thanks. You're bang on. It's a lot more subtle for sure, but very nice flavours. It's possible there's already breweries in Australia playing around with the hop. Cheers 🍻

    Good review Dinoz, looks very light in colour for a NZ Pilsner, some light Pilsner malt? I liked the Hort 9099 Lemon 🍋 Lime and notes of hay, I made a very good NZ Pilsner from that. Would be interesting to compare the new NZH111 with Hort 9099.

      Thanks mate. I'm not sure if I've had a beer with Hort9099 in it, but I'm liking the description of it. Hopefully we can both get our hands on the new NZH111. Cheers 🍻

      @@tubedinoz yeah Hort9099 come out the same time as Nectaron, but Hort9099 never made it big. I really liked it it was a tasty hop by it's self in a smash NZ Pilsner.
